Selecting the right surfaces for a kitchen renovation project

Selecting the right surfaces for a kitchen renovation project
The kitchen in this London home was transformed as part of a comprehensive renovation, with the design experts at HUSK collaborating closely with the client’s fitter and Mayflower Stone to ensure a seamless integration of the new kitchen into the broader redesign.
A key focus was selecting the right materials, and after reviewing several samples, the clients chose Neolith sintered stone in colour Estatuario for the worktops. Neolith offers the elegance of marble but with practical advantages such as ease of transport, installation, and durability. Its sleek, 12mm profile provided the modern, low-profile look the clients desired, which would have been difficult to achieve with other natural stone.
A perfect balance of style and functionality
Neolith Estatuario, with its delicate marbled veining and silk finish, brought a luxurious feel to the space, while its durability makes it ideal for everyday use.
The clients also upgraded their kitchen carcasses, adding a rich, deep green contrast to the light, marbled-inspired worktops. The combination of these materials ensured that the kitchen was both visually stunning and functional, creating a perfect balance of style and utility.
French architect Francois Jeantet played a key role in reimagining the home’s layout, moving the kitchen to the front of the ground-floor plan and opening it up to a spacious, light-filled rear extension. The kitchen became the heart of this home, designed not only for cooking but also as a social hub for gatherings. Bespoke joinery partitions the kitchen from the hallway and dining room, maintaining an open, airy feel while giving each space its own identity. The central Neolith island became a focal point, offering both practical workspace and an area for casual dining within the built-in seating at the bay window.
Expert craftsmanship and premium products
HUSK’s expert craftsmanship played a crucial role in enhancing the kitchen’s appeal with custom details tailored to the clients’ preferences. Features like colour-matched shelving within the island and a bespoke solid oak storage rack again reflected the owners personal tastes.
The addition of gold accents in the lighting, bar stools, and tap brought a touch of luxury, beautifully complementing the marble-like Neolith surfaces. The result was a kitchen that seamlessly blends classic elegance with modern design, creating a space that is both functional and beautiful.
