WFF Quality Mark set to raise standards across KBB fabrication industry
The Worktop Fabricators Federation (WFF) has announced the launch of the WFF Quality Mark – a new industry initiative designed to elevate standards, improve workplace safety, and strengthen professionalism across the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom (KBB) fabrication sector.
Developed with the support of scientific research and industry collaboration, the Quality Mark introduces a structured framework for fabrication businesses, with the aim of promoting best practice, operational excellence and workforce protection. WFF said that stakeholders involved have made a significant contribution to shaping the scheme, including the hosting of Health and Safety Executive (HSE) teams and expert input from across the supply chain.
WFF is urging KBB designers and specifiers to partner only with reputable fabricators and question non-members about their industry standards and how they perform independent assessments. The federation believes this initiative will increase transparency, improve profitability, and protect workers across the sector.
Upon launch, WFF members will be categorised into 3 tiers:
● Provisional Status – Businesses working to improve processes, build standardisation, and develop operational capacity, supported by WFF mentoring and guidance.
● Approved Member – Companies demonstrating strong systems, proactive management, and reliable performance metrics.
● Audited Member – Best-in-class operators demonstrating continuous improvement and industry-leading practices, independently inspected by a BOHS auditor in addition to WFF assessment.
Only businesses that successfully pass the audit will be permitted to display the official Quality Mark logo. Members that have actively committed their time and expertise to the scheme and collaborated with scientific teams to ensure optimum standards include PWS Distribution Ltd, Bellagio Stone Ltd t/a Bellagio Marble Ideas, Natural Stone Surfaces Ltd, Granite Tops (UK) Ltd, The Quartz Worktop Company Ltd and Stone System of London Ltd.
According to WFF, these organisations represent a growing movement within the KBB sector towards improved safety, consistency and professional accountability.
Nigel Fletcher, operations officer at WFF, said: “Through the launch of the WFF Quality Mark, we are setting a clear benchmark for professionalism, safety, and operational excellence across the fabrication sector. This programme is designed to reward commitment to best practice, protect workforces, and improve long-term profitability for responsible businesses. We strongly encourage KBB designers and specifiers to work exclusively with audited and reputable fabricators, and we invite non-members to engage with WFF to understand the benefits of raising their standards and joining a transparent, structured industry framework.”
