Hiatt Hardware Group acquires Lakes Bathrooms in multimillion-pound deal
Birmingham-based distributor and supplier of premium hardware and ironmongery products Hiatt Hardware Group has announced it has completed the acquisition of Lakes Bathrooms Ltd and Lakes Showering Spaces, one of the UK bathroom sector's most established showering brands.
The multimillion-pound deal secures more than 120 jobs across the Lakes workforce and marks a significant strategic expansion for the group, with the acquisition seeing it broaden its offer to include a wider range of bathroom-related products. Following the acquisition on 18th May 2026, Hiatt Hardware Group will grow to employ 200 people across the combined group.
Lakes Bathrooms, headquartered in Gloucestershire, built its reputation over 5 decades as a manufacturer of showering enclosures, screens and bathroom products. The business was launched in 1986 by the late Robin Craddock and his father. Craddock’s work and legacy were influential in building the success of the brand and its independent, family-run ethos, as well as its strong reputation for first class customer service and quality products. In 2023 it completed a management buyout led by its board of directors.
Hiatt Hardware Group chairman Ankesh Agrawal said: "Lakes is a respected, well-established British brand with genuine manufacturing heritage and this acquisition is a bold and considered move that reflects our confidence in the long-term strength of the UK trade and home improvement market. Our focus now is on supporting the Lakes team and ensuring continuity of the excellent service their customers expect."
Group CEO Nipun Agrawal added: "This acquisition accelerates our strategy to build a stronger, more diversified group with market-leading brands across the hardware and home improvement supply sectors. Lakes brings a high-quality manufacturing capability and a loyal, specialist customer base that complements our existing trade relationships."
The addition of a fully-owned manufacturing operation brought by the acquisition is set to strengthen the Hiatt Hardware Group supply chain resilience and mirrors a model already established within the business.
