Mereway managing director Mark Mills explains why the company's customers and customisation comes first.
"Kitchens are the very heart of the home and we believe that Mereway is at the very heart of the UK kitchen manufacturing sector. Not only are we leading the way in terms of innovative design, we have raised the bar so high in terms of quality, craftsmanship and customisation. Our ethos is about working with our retailers, delivering on our promises and creating absolute individuality because we understand that no two kitchens are, or indeed should be, the same.
Despite all the challenges that 2020 has thrown at us, we have been able to ensure that 2020 is still the “year of the launch”, with launches across our Mereway kitchen portfolios; Cucina Colore, Town and Country and English Revival. We know that we need a pipeline of innovation to give our retailers that cutting edge.
We unveiled Cucina Colore’s new Q-Line collection at KBB in March, which was extremely well received. In July we launched Cambridge, a modern Shaker-style kitchen, to both our Cucina Colore and Town and Country ranges. The high hopes we had for this new design are being realised; it is totally unique and offers retailers something very different whilst not moving too far from what Mereway customers are used to.
A family business, established since 1986 with a manufacturing base and joinery facility at our Amington Road plant, gives us an authentic competitive edge. We are in control of our own destiny and can create kitchens which are truly bespoke, literally customising to order rather than delivering the hybrid offering of most of our competitors. This is most evident in our English Revival Signature and new Cucina Colore Q-Line ranges.
It can be difficult for an established company to be seen as progressive but our innovation and creativity is something we are really proud of and renowned for. Our design focus is incredibly strong and we are experts at what we do, creating and manufacturing high quality and bespoke kitchens. We are a large company but we are flexible enough to be able to pivot when needed. Being essentially a family business gives us the personal touch and means we never forget or lose sight of our roots.
Loyalty to our customers and suppliers is very important to us and we think puts us in a very good place moving forward. We look with confidence to 2021, with continued investment in our people, products, infrastructure and retailer relationships.”
