Colin Murray announced as the host for the 2025 KBSA Designer Awards

The KBSA has announced sports commentator and broadcaster Colin Murray as the host for its 2025 Designer Awards, which are now open for entries.

Murray hosts Countdown on Channel 4 and presents Sunday mornings on 5 Live, having previously hosted Fighting Talk. Alongside his broadcasting, he has maintained a written journalistic career and is widely published in the print media. Murray has also published a novel 'A Random History of Football’.

The awards dinner is set to take place on Wednesday 1st October at the Belfry Hotel and Resort, West Midlands, following the KBB Industry conference. The winners will receive a trophy and framed certificate. The Young Designer of the Year winner receives a cash prize of £500 and, at the judges' discretion, an additional award of £1,500 in the form of an educational and training grant.

There are two new award categories this year, The Bathroom Concept award and the Signature Spaces award, creating a total of nine award categories, as below:

Kitchen Designer of the Year (up to £25K)

Kitchen Designer of the Year (£25K-50K)

Kitchen Designer of the Year (over £50K)

Bedroom Designer of the Year

Bathroom Designer of the Year

Kitchen Concept Designer of the Year

Young Designer of the Year

Bathroom Concept Designer of the Year

Signature Spaces Designer of the Year

KBSA chair Richard Hibbert said: “We are delighted that Colin Murray will be hosting the awards. He has an amazing reputation as an engaging and lively host. The new award categories recognise how designers are expanding their skills outside of kitchens and we anticipate some great entries. The KBSA Designer Awards remain a beacon in our industry for their transparency and integrity. All entries are judged blind by an independent judging panel, and standards are exceedingly high. The awards are only open to members but with some great deals for membership available during March, it is a great time to join and become eligible to be part of the awards.”
