Hayley Bowman on the key bathroom trends to look out for in 2025

Marketing manager at Frontline Bathrooms Hayley Bowman dives into the latest trends in the bathroom world – from innovative and minimalist designs to fresh, emerging colour palettes.

Muted Colours
At Frontline Bathrooms, we’re noticing a shift in colours and patterns favoured for bathroom spaces. Colours such as Slate Grey and Cashmere will continue to trend as they provide colour to the bathroom without overpowering the space. These more natural, muted and earthy tones will be used to create a feeling of sanctuary in the home.

Providing a timeless feel that suits every design style, we're expecting to see shades such as Taupe and Beige rising in popularity, emulating a rejuvenating setting and adding a cosy and warm atmosphere in the bathroom. Also complementing those colours with bolder bathroom tiles, materials like wood, rattan and stone can also be used to add a more organic and natural feel to the bathing space.

Our Terracotta Wall Hung Vanity is part of our latest Econic collection and is the perfect piece for 2025 to compliment neutral bathroom palettes, whilst injecting a pop of muted colour through its trending sun-baked hues.

Texture
The addition of purposeful texture to bathrooms has been on the rise, and we predict that this will be the case throughout 2025, but with softer shapes and grooves that are much less domineering than the Slat trend of 2024. While wall panelling itself may be nothing new, this traditional design has made its way into bathrooms with vertical slats in the tile providing texture, while maintaining a stylish tone-on-tone colour palette.

For 2025 we predict a subtle, yet elevated take on the slat trend with the emergence of seamless arches and curves, contributing to a softer and more fluid bathroom design, and breaking down the monotony of straight lines and angles. We are also anticipating that the mitred tile trend will carry over to bathroom furniture, where we will see a desire for seamless product designs with fewer visible joins and lines, including chamfered doors.

Lighting
We are seeing a surge in the use of indirect lighting when seeking to create a relaxing or welcoming bathroom space. Recessed light points on the ceiling and walls are gaining popularity due to the stylish and modern aesthetics that they complement, providing a clutter-free lighting effect unlike conventional lighting. Recessed lights aren’t limited to the ceiling or walls – clever designers can add lights to the floor or underneath furniture and decor to create an ambience. By strategically placing indirect lighting, you can create a soft and inviting atmosphere, without the need for a harsh glare while performing various activities.

Integrated LED lighting is also dominating the market at the moment, as one of the most prominent trends in bathroom design. Offering numerous advantages, LED fixtures have become increasingly popular due to energy efficiency, longevity and versatility. These can be seamlessly incorporated into any bathroom design through bathroom mirrors, vanity cabinets or shower enclosures to provide a seamless and modern look.

Luxe For Less
Amid the cost-of-living crisis, customers are looking to achieve the luxury look without spending the earth. A combination of rising costs and lower spending power has resulted in consumers seeking to create indulgent spaces within their own homes, rather than splashing out on hotel or spa visits. And as we head into 2025, we expect to see a shift towards ‘boutique’ style bathrooms, with a prediction that sales of statement vanities and contrasting basins will increase.

A vanity can be a focal point of the bathroom design and may be chosen to match a particular bathroom aesthetic, creating a statement, whilst harmonising the space. For example, a vintage-inspired vanity and basin can have detailing like square knobs and Polished Nickel, suiting a traditional Victorian-style home, while a Scandi-inspired vanity and basin may feature sleek curves and combine wooden textures with modern hardware that better suits a contemporary mid-century home.

Our Holborn Isobel vanity is the perfect companion for old and new-world bathrooms. Whether you desire a vintage Victorian style or an eclectic mix of modern-day meets mid-century in your bathroom, an Isobel vanity boasts traditional shaker detailing with a hand-painted finish allowing the unit to ooze statement style in any setting.

Walk-In Showers
We expect walk-in showers and wetrooms to continually grow in popularity. While baths, particularly freestanding models, remain very much on trend, we have seen a distinctive rise in the sales of walk-in showers towards the end of this year, suggesting a shifting preference.

We are seeing a growing desire among homeowners to integrate the luxurious yet practical elements of walk-in showers into their spaces, mainly due to their versatility, functionality and aesthetic appeal. Customisation is at the heart of the walk-in shower’s allure, where consumers can be freed from the space-related constraints of standard bathtubs or prefabricated shower stalls. Walk-in showers provide homeowners with the creative freedom to tailor every aspect of their shower experience to their desires, from the choice of rainfall or dual showerheads giving a truly spa-like experience, to frosted or glass privacy screens, the possibilities are endless.
