2026 Kitchen and Bathroom design trends: What's shaping the KBB industry now

Joy drenching
While colour drenching shows no signs of slowing, 'joy drenching' is emerging as its more expressive successor. Rather than simply enveloping a space in one hue, the trend embraces uplifting colours, layered tonal palettes and playful combinations that reflect personality and optimism. From colourful kitchen cabinetry to bold bathroom furniture and statement bedroom finishes, manufacturers are responding with wider colour palettes that encourage designers to move beyond safe neutrals.

Fluted finishes
Fluting continues to be one of the KBB sector's most enduring design details, appearing across cabinetry, islands, vanity units, shower screens and furniture. Its appeal lies in its ability to introduce texture and rhythm while maintaining clean, contemporary lines. As suppliers continue to reinterpret the look in timber, glass, stone and metal, fluted detailing is proving to be a versatile specification that works across both residential and hospitality schemes.

Wood's enduring appeal
Natural timber continues to gain traction as designers seek to balance contemporary design with warmth and authenticity. From walnut and smoked oak to lighter, characterful finishes, wood is increasingly being used to soften minimalist schemes and introduce a more tactile aesthetic. Whether specified for cabinetry, furniture or architectural detailing, timber remains a timeless material that complements the growing demand for biophilic, long-lasting interiors.

Decorative hardware
Hardware has evolved into an important specification decision rather than a finishing touch. Oversized pulls, tactile wooden handles, mixed-metal finishes and sculptural forms are enabling designers to personalise cabinetry and elevate otherwise simple furniture. As manufacturers expand their hardware collections to co-ordinate with taps, showers and accessories, handles are increasingly being used to create cohesive schemes while offering an accessible way to refresh an interior without replacing entire installations.

Statement headboards
Statement headboards are becoming a defining feature of bedroom design, with manufacturers introducing oversized, upholstered and sculptural styles that add impact without the need for additional decoration. Curved forms, wraparound silhouettes and tactile fabrics are proving particularly popular, helping designers create a clear focal point while introducing softness and a sense of luxury. As consumers continue to invest in the bedroom as a sanctuary, the headboard has evolved from a functional component into a key design statement.
