Utopia Furniture Ltd acquired by Brank K Group

Bathroom manufacturer Utopia Furniture has been acquired by Brand K Group, one of the UK’s largest privately-owned suppliers of radiators and bathroom equipment to independent merchants and showrooms.

The acquisition is Brand K Group’s 10th UK acquisition and adds another established British manufacturer to its growing portfolio of bathroom and radiator brands. 

Founded by Ian Hall and Dave Conn in 1989, Utopia is a long-established British bathroom furniture manufacturer based in the West Midlands. Over the years, the multi award-winning business has built a strong reputation for British design, manufacturing quality and service to retail and contract customers. In 2007, an MBO saw Hall and Conn leave Utopia while remaining major shareholders. Seven years later, as the the company celebrated its 25th anniversary, Hall and Conn returned to the business and took up their positions as joint MDs. 

Today Utopia supplies a nationwide network of more than 600 independent bathroom showrooms as well as leading housebuilders through its contracts division.

Brand K Group is based in Bedford and has operations in Wigan, Leeds, Willenhall, Tewkesbury, Falkirk, New York, Qingdao and Almassora. It was established in 2008 by Alex Norford and now employs more than 850 people and turns over in excess of £180m. Kartell UK was the first company in the group and remains the largest, distributing radiators and bathroom fixtures and fittings under the K-RAD and K-VIT brands. Since 2019, the group has acquired a series of UK-based manufacturers, including Just Trays, Vogue UK, MX Group, Paladin Radiators, Carron Bathrooms and Utopia Furniture.
