Bathroom manufacturer Ideal Standard has launched a new RIBA-certified CPD course, titled 'specifying bathrooms for a sustainable, design-led future'.
Aimed at architects and designers, the new course focuses on the crucial specification, legislation and design considerations impacting residential bathrooms, highlighting how these influences affect decision making through the design process. It looks at safety, sustainability, accessibility and hygiene, alongside the relevant Document M and Document G legislation covering the access to and use of buildings. Cold-water use, water efficiency, hot water supply and sanitary requirements for the bathroom are included. There is also a focus on the main water regulation certification bodies, NSF, KIWA and WRAS and the need to consider these across all developments.
Jo Edwards, channel director, residential and trade at Ideal Standard, said: “Continuous training and development is central to maintaining industry standards and delivering bathrooms that work for end-users and housebuilders, which is why we are invested in creating CPDs for people across the bathroom and washroom sector.
“There’s a lot for specifiers to consider when it comes to designing a residential bathroom with durability, adaptability, hygiene, safety, and sustainability all being key areas to factor into designs. Our CPD, titled ‘specifying bathrooms for a sustainable, design-led future’ gives specifiers the information they need to make informed decisions on design, meet regulatory responsibilities and create bathrooms that are both stylish and practical, now and into the future.”
