Ideal Standard hopes to resolve pay dispute and avoid strike action

Ideal Standard is hoping that a resolution has been reached with workers at its factory in Armitage, Staffordshire, who voted last week to take strike action in a row over pay.

Following a meeting held on Friday 9th August, an Ideal Standard spokesperson said: "Following pay negotiations between Ideal Standard leadership and representatives of the GMB Union, there is now an agreed resolution at Ideal Standard’s Armitage site.

"GMB Union are recommending members accept Ideal Standard’s offer at an upcoming ballot. The UK manufacturing site is important to the Ideal Standard business, and the joint negotiation committee are pleased to have a positive outcome from today’s meeting."

Ideal Standard, which is being integrated as a separate part of the Villeroy & Boch Group following its acquisition in March, and Armitage Shanks are 2 of the world's best-known bathroom brands with combined history stretching back more than 300 years. The factory in Staffordshire remains the only large-scale ceramics manufacturing operation in the UK, producing millions of toilets and basins annually.
