The Big Debate is set to return to the KBSA KBB Industry Conference 2025
The Big Debate – one of the most-anticipated highlights of the KBSA’s KBB Industry Conference – is back. This year’s session will be facilitated by acclaimed broadcast journalist Emma Crosby and features a panel of 4 key industry figures.
Meet the panel:
* Liam Butler, design director, Butler Interiors, joined his family’s business full-time in 2017. Known for pushing creative boundaries, he’s had over a dozen designs shortlisted for major industry awards. Now a director, Liam leads with ambition, originality and hands-on insight.
* Lindsey Copperwheat, co-founder, TC Kitchens, launched TC Kitchens in the middle of the 2009 recession. Now 16 years on and based in a purpose-built showroom in rural Bedfordshire, Lindsey continues to drive thebusiness forward with vision and adaptability.
* Jamie Harding, founder & CEO, Et Lorem, started his career at 17, hand-sketching kitchens in an independent showroom. Now at the helm of Et Lorem – the brand he founded in 2020 – he’s reshaping the luxury kitchen buying experience with studios in Reading and Beaconsfield.
* Lynne McBride, design director, Tolle Kitchens, transitioned from education into the family kitchen business in 2013. Her collaborative approach has helped Tolle Kitchens thrive as it celebrates 18 years in business this year.
Discussing the issues that matter with an expanded session time of 1 hour and 45 minutes, the KBSA says this year’s debate 'dives deeper into the real-world issues that matter most to independent retailers'. Topics set to be discussed include:
The value of charging for design.
Strategies for retaining top talent.
Ongoing frustrations with supplier display terms.
Evolving consumer finance and protection.
“This isn’t about talking at people, it’s about talking with them,” said Richard Hibbert, KBSA chair. “The KBSA conference is more than just an industry gathering, it’s a space for independent retailers to come together, share ideas and tackle the real challenges we all face.”
With discussion points submitted directly by the panellists – such as whether finance options boost sales without eroding margin, or if charging for design should become standard practice – attendees can expect fresh insights, practical advice and a clearer view of the road ahead.
