Bathroom manufacturer BC Designs has revealed that it had its best year to date in 2021, exceeding its growth targets despite another challenging year due to the pandemic. Several new product launches, as well as an enhanced customer service offering, and new storage facility helped the company to increase turnover by 30% along with a notable rise in profit, which the company has committed to reinvestment.
The company says it has reinvested a significant portion of its profit into its service offering as it is keen to look after its retailers, including a new warehouse and painting facility to better increase its lead times across its product portfolio. BC Designs also ensured further support by initiating a price freeze so that retailers were able to supply their customers at an increased profit margin during this time.
Darren Allison, MD at BC Designs, said: “On a business level, 2021 was a great year for BC Designs. We spent 2020 refocussing our efforts and producing a business plan that put us on the right footing to cope with what 2021 was likely to bring. It meant that we were able to look at cost savings to better support our retailers, while also ensuring we continued to develop our product portfolio. The result was not only an increase in turnover, but a rise in profitability and a 30% increase in staff workforce.
“We have even bigger plans for 2022 as we launch our first ceramics and furniture collections, with further warehouses and workshops in planning at the moment, so we can continue to increase the stock we’re able to hold to reduce lead times, which remain troublesome for the industry.”
The standout products that have helped drive an increase in sales for BC Designs has been their copper boat collections. A drive for metal baths, from both a hygiene and sustainability point of view has meant the company has experienced a 40% increase in sales in this area. For 2022, the company are launching several new models including antiqued and Verdigris options.
