Grohe has introduced the new Bau Ceramic manual bidet seat – a retrofit seat that is able to transform an existing toilet into a shower toilet.
Designed for DIY installations, budget bathroom revamps and quick turnkey projects, the seat is especially intended to attract consumers who are concerned with enhanced hygiene, but who are unable to stretch their budget to a shower toilet and seek a more affordable system.
The company says that the soft-close seat and lid fits onto most standard round and U-shaped toilets, instantly updating and upgrading an existing WC and turning it into a shower toilet that simply uses water. With two retractable sprays, which are manually operated via a lever connected to the side of the toilet seat, it is said to be a cost-effective way for users to experience the same personal care.
With no electrical supply required, the retractable spray arms feature an antibacterial coating and a self-cleaning function. The spray function works with 1-10 bar high water pressure – first the spray arm extends into position, then an inner valve opens to allow the water flow to begin. Before and after use, the user can simply click the lever at the side of the seat once in an upwards or downwards motion to activate a pre- or post-rinsing of the spray nozzles. When the sprays are no longer in use, they contract back into position, hidden from view until the next use.
The Bau Manual bidet seat uses cold water as standard but Grohe says that offering the option of warm water represents an upsell opportunity for retailers, and can be easily achieved with the additional installation of the Grohtherm Micro Thermostat.
