When Such Designs was tasked with bringing a whole-house project for a contemporary home in High Wycombe to life, they chose Rotpunkt furniture for the open-plan kitchen – we find out how they went about it.

Located in the rolling chalk hills and beech woodlands of Buckinghamshire, this spacious modern family home required an open-plan design for the ground floor where the different areas could flow naturally into one another.

The homeowner’s brief was to create a well-designed, multifunctional kitchen living space, which is able to grow with the entire family while maintaining a strong style identity. Design specialists Such Designs deciding to focus on creating a visual connection between the kitchen, dining area, living space and bathrooms that were united via a common design language.

The key was to prevent it from feeling cavernous and uninviting by incorporating warm tones and natural materials. The striking choice of Rotpunkt's Zerox Furniture provides visual statement at one end of the space, with a considered mix of full height Xtend 2340mm kitchen cabinets in the company’s FSC® Certified Loft Brown Oak finish, which is defined by ultra-modern wood-effect door fronts with oak brown undertones.

The gold standard of eco-friendly kitchen design, all elements in Loft Oak offer a greener alternative for the homeowners without compromising on style.

Utilising the entire breadth of the wall, Rotpunkt Loft Brown Oak Xtend 2340mm cabinets make way for a dedicated breakfast cupboard that provides space to house small appliances, along with ample food storage, and built-in refrigeration so the entire family can make quick work of home cooking.

Siemens built-in appliances complete the run of the extra-tall cabinets and unite the adjoining sink area, which is designed with a large run of base units in Rotpunkt Snow XT with matching Loft Brown Oak handle profiles and fully integrated LED smart lighting across all furniture.

Terrazzo-style porcelain forms a custom island unit that brings an artisan blend of different natural stones across the worktops and 45° vertical supports to differentiate the main workspace, and provide contrast against the warmth of the Loft Brown Oak fitted storage.

From kitchen to living room, the team at Such Designs made full use of the bare wall with a bespoke home media centre in statement black finish, which accommodates the homeowners' large 52” TV, built-in speaker system, and storage needs by featuring a Rotpunkt Memory RI wall panel with vertical grooves and series of Zerox Snow XT floating base units. The vertical grooves inspired Such Designs to also use Memory RI in the master bathroom and en suite but this time, in the lighter shade of New Forest Oak.
