Outgoing chief executive of the Bathroom Association Tom Reynolds looks back over the past 6 years and ahead with optimism, while welcoming new CEO Daphne Doody-Green.

As many of you know, I will be stepping down from the Bathroom Association this September. I’ve been reflecting on the past 6 years with a mixture of pride, gratitude, and excitement for what’s to come, both for me and for the Association.

Leading this organisation has truly been the privilege of my career. When I joined in 2019, I never could have imagined the scale of change we’d navigate together. We’ve weathered a global pandemic, responded to shifting regulations, and seen a transformation not only in our sector but in how we define ourselves as an organisation.

That transformation came to life this summer when we officially rebranded as the Bathroom Association. While it may seem like a minor change from the former Bathroom Manufacturers Association, it marks a much larger shift. It reflects the journey we’ve been on – one of growth, inclusion, and increasing impact. Our mission has expanded beyond manufacturers to embrace the entire ecosystem of the bathroom industry. We are no longer just a voice for a part of the sector; we are the voice for all who shape, supply, install and innovate in bathrooms across the UK.

The strength of this industry lies in its diversity – from global brands to independent retailers, technical experts to installers. What unites us is a commitment to improving the spaces where people begin and end their day, and where health, hygiene and comfort all converge.

There have been many proud moments during my time here. One that stands out is convening global bathroom leaders at Windsor Castle to confront shared environmental challenges. The resulting Windsor Declaration was a landmark moment for our industry – one that proved what’s possible when we work together on the things that matter most.

I also can’t help but smile when I think about how far the Association has come in terms of recognition. Being named UK Trade Association of the Year was an incredible validation of the work our team, members and partners have put in.

As I move on to take up a new role with the British Brands Group, I do so knowing the Association is in very capable hands. Daphne Doody-Green will bring energy, experience and vision as our next chief executive. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Daphne, and I’m confident she’ll lead with purpose and clarity as the Association continues to grow its influence and impact.

We’ll be co-hosting this year’s Connect Conference together in September – a chance to celebrate the journey so far and look ahead to the exciting future we’re building.

To all our members, stakeholders, friends and colleagues: thank you. Thank you for your trust, your collaboration, and your belief in the power of a united bathroom industry.
