Smeg launches new Area induction hob 'to help make cooking smarter'

Smeg has announced the launch of its new ‘Area’ induction hob in what it says is a bid 'to help make cooking smarter'. Utilising the brand’s Vivo screen technology, the company says that Area is its most intelligent hob to date, providing users with total freedom when cooking.

The hob can cook several dishes at one time on different timers, and has capacity for 12 pans of varying sizes, with no predetermined cooking zones, down to pans as small as 9cm. With intelligent Follow Pot technology, the Area uses 38 sensors to help recognise each individual pan, and follow it around the hob while maintaining the initial settings.

For ultimate control, the induction system allows for each pot to have its own timer and up to 17 power levels. It also boasts four pre-set settings for warming, simmering, boiling, and cooking.

The Area induction hobs complement both Dolce Stil Novo and Linea appliance lines, allowing for a streamlined and cohesive kitchen aesthetic.
