Sigma 3 Kitchens announces £20million investment plans

British kitchen manufacturer and parent company of Masterclass Kitchens, Sigma 3 Kitchens, has announced that due to growing demand and following a successful trading year, they are investing £20million to substantially increase its manufacturing capacity over the next three years.

The expansion will see the largest investment in buildings, plant and infrastructure in Sigma 3’s history, and the company says it will present major opportunities for the business, customers, colleagues and local community.

Sigma 3 Kitchens chairman and CEO, Brian Lakin, pictured, said: “The expansion will be broadly split into two areas. Firstly, the next one-to-three years will see a major project to increase the capacity and efficiency of our Llantrisant plant. This involves a factory extension that will significantly increase our manufacturing footprint, as well as major investments in plant, systems and people.”

“Secondly, a new facility that has been purchased will be commissioned in Bridgend. This will allow us to not only add production capacity, but also enable specialised production, which will improve overall efficiency. The new facility will add 130,000 sq ft of production and office capacity and will again result in major investments in new equipment, systems and people.”

The expansion builds upon the established facilities and capabilities that the manufacturer offers, and is set to deliver an almost tripling of the existing footprint in terms of production and office space. The project will include new buildings, expansion of existing buildings, automation, new equipment, new business systems and training and organisational infrastructure. The existing workforce at Llantrisant will be added to and a major recruitment and training project will commence, to provide the skilled workforce resource required for the new manufacturing facility in Bridgend.

Commercial sales director, Steve Tough, added: “Sigma 3 remains devoted to maintaining the same consistently high-quality products for which they are known, whilst driving forward quality control procedures to ensure the product is best in class, regardless of the facility from which it is manufactured. We are committed to investing in improvements that will benefit and support their valued trade partners and end customers, whilst delivering the projects in an environmentally aware and sustainable manner.”
