Advice to tradespeople so far unchanged as BiKBBI seeks clarification

The BiKBBI has requested further clarification from Government to confirm that while the new lockdown restrictions that are coming into force this week may affect many businesses as they instruct people to stay at home, advice to tradespeople remains unchanged. The current advice is that as long as tradespeople conduct themselves within the Government guidelines, they are permitted to continue to operate and work in other people's homes.

"It's clear that we need to do something as a country," said BiKBBI CEO Damian Walters, pictured. "We cannot allow this virus to ravage the nation and push our NHS to breaking point. However, it's important that we balance the impact on our nation's physicality with its mental and economic health. I believe that the guidance already issued to tradespeople is sensible, and therefore I see no reason why the same principles in Wales during their fire break restrictions cannot be applied in England."

He added: "That said, we each have a responsibility to slow this spread and as professionals we have a duty to ensure COVID-safe measures are implemented in the full, as failure to do so may very well lead to a new, more restrictive tier which we should all do our best to avoid."

The BiKBBI confirmed that its head office will remain operational from the 5th November, and that it will ensure its own COVID-safe operating procedures continue.
