This week marked the work anniversary of Egger UK accounts co-ordinator, Alison Bird, who joined the wood-based materials manufacturer in November 1975. Alison, started her career with Weyroc as an office junior, and became an Egger employee nine years later when the company took over the site in 1984.
During her career, Alison has undertaken many different development and training opportunities with the company, including a two-year Association of Accounting Technician qualification, which led her to her current role in finance. She is also one of seven Better Health at Work Ambassadors, who look after the wellbeing of Egger’s employees.
Alison said: “I am delighted to have reached this milestone in my career at Egger. I am very grateful for the opportunities Egger has provided for me, and the many friendships I have made over the years. I have seen the business develop significantly, but it has always kept the family touch. I would not hesitate to recommend Egger as a place to work. It is the largest manufacturing employer in Northumberland and has fantastic opportunities for employees to develop their skills further.”
Jonathon Stephens, plant manager, finance and administration, said: “I would like to thank Alison for her hard work and commitment over the last 45 years. It is a fantastic achievement and we are proud to have her as part of our team at Egger Hexham.”
Alison is one of two employees to reach their 45-year career milestone at Egger Hexham this year. Alan Barker reached his 45th anniversary in August, just before retiring from his role as process operator in October.
