Grohe has revealed that it was chosen to be the exclusive partner for bathroom brassware for a hotel project situated in the cave dwellings of the mountains of Matera, by architect Simone Micheli. The Aquatio Cave Luxury Hotel & SPA, which has been designed taking inspiration from its surrounding area, is steeped history with the natural environment.
First opened in 2018, the 35-room hotel has been built up in the mountains, and structurally traces the ancient caves tuff stone, providing a unique stay for guests in search of natural beauty and wellness. With its integrated spa, and origins of an area being derived from a single drop of the water, the project focuses hugely on water and the benefits and importance of the natural resource, which Grohe says closely aligns with its own ethos of 'Pure Freude an Wasser' (Pure joy of water).
Throughout the project Grohe’s Essence brassware was selected as the exclusive bathroom fitting range, providing an organic silhouette, further complimenting the interior and exterior of the development. The fittings are specified in Grohe's StarLight Chrome finish, and their sustainable credentials are in tune with the project's core ethos. The company's Essence range, which takes inspiration from natural forms, also features prominently.
Nick Brown, leader, hospitality UK, Lixil EMENA, said: "Since the post-pandemic opening of hotels and hospitality establishments, wellness has taken centre stage... Our Essence collection was specified as part of this project thanks to its natural timeless aesthetic which works harmoniously within the interior, alongside Grohe's proud commitment to preserving our natural resource, particularly when it comes to water."
