Sink, tap and appliance manufacturer Franke is looking to nurture young talent and support the growth of women’s football by sponsoring Abigail Reid, the goalkeeper for Wycombe Wanderers FC Women’s U18s football club.
Reid joined Wycombe Wanderers for the 2023-24 season where she will compete as part of the Junior Premier League. She started her football career at the age of seven with Tilehurst Panthers in Reading and began training at the Wycombe Wanderers Girls Elite Development Centre last year.
Franke’s sponsorship covers the upcoming season's kit and membership expenses. The player’s father, Stuart Reid, has been part of the Franke team for the past five years where he is employed as a field service technician.
Jo Sargent, sales and marketing director at Franke, said: "We are delighted to support Abigail as she embarks on this exciting chapter of her football journey with Wycombe Wanderers FC Women’s U18s.
“At a time when women's football is finally starting to get the attention it deserves, we are delighted to play a part in Abigail's development by providing her with the backing she requires to shine on the field. We look forward to following her and her teammates’ progress during the forthcoming season."
Nigel Kingston, chair of Wycombe Wanderers FC Women, said: “Sponsorship support for our players is vital as all the funds to operate Wycombe Wanderers Women are raised through either sponsorship or donations. Franke’s sponsorship of Abigail means a great deal to her and allows her to go through the season without worrying whether she can afford to play for us. Wycombe Wanderers Women are very grateful to Franke for their support and look forward to working with them in the season ahead.”
