The latest back-to-wall baths have all the luxe and gravitas of a freestanding centrepiece but work perfectly when space is at a premium, offering sleek good looks too. Emma Hedges rounds up the latest options.
1. Ontario from Sonas achieves a distinctive freestanding aesthetic coupled with an open-back design. Featuring minimalist lines and a spacious ledge for essential products, it is engineered for effortless installation and maintenance. Suitable for mounted taps or freestanding brassware, the open-back design provides easy access to pipes, simplifying installation and maintenance tasks. With over 2,500 colours to choose from in the brand's Custom Colour service, it can be tailored to complement aesthetic preferences, ensuring seamless integration into any bathroom design.
2. The Note double-ended, back-to-wall bathtub from Roper Rhodes is characterised by its subtle curves and modern silhouette. Perfect for those who love the modern look, it measures 1700 x 820 x 585mm and can be positioned centrally in a bathroom to make a statement and pair with a freestanding bath filler.
3. The Lussari 1600 back-to-wall bath from Victoria + Albert is described by the brand as being 'the intelligent style choice' for bathrooms with minimal space. The simplicity of its sculptural form combines the iconic look and feel of freestanding with the ingenuity of modern, space-saving design. Installed against the wall for a watertight seal with a spacious deck for mounting brassware and holding bathroom luxuries.
4. The Dewa semi-freestanding bathtub is a new addition to the Acquawhite collection from Acquabella, that has been designed to bring functionality and style to the bathroom. Measuring 1700 x 870 x 580mm, it is made of Dolotek – a highly resistant material with unique technical features – and is characterised by its minimalist lines and matt white finish.
5. The Tubby Torre Dee from The Albion Bath Company is said to bridge the gap between a freestanding and a built-in bath, and is made from the company's unique Iso-Enamel material. The classic exterior of the Torre Dee can be finished in a colour from the Farrow & Ball and Dulux ranges, or in Albion's burnished finishes – Gold, Iron or Bronze.
6. The Happy D.2 ceramic back-to-wall bathtub from Duravit has rounded corners to share the same design language as the rest of the collection by Sieger Design. For added relaxation, it can also come complete with the brand's jet system where air bubbles provide a gentle water massage that helps to stimulate the user's circulation.
7. The Artist Grande back-to-wall bath from Crosswater is made from Clearstone, the company's composite dolomite stone and resin combination which, after removal from the mould, is hand polished. With a 204-litre capacity, it measures 1690 x 700 x 550mm, and its streamlined silhouette, is perfect for schemes with a contemporary aesthetic.
8. The latest back-to-wall bath from Acquabella is Noon Slate, shown here in the soft colour Petal. On the outside, it features a Slate texture that gives it a sophisticated and natural look, while its smooth interior boasts a practical ledge, which is ideal for placing bath products or any accessories. Made from the brand's Akron material, it is designed to be durable, and comes in over 2,000 colours.
9. The BetteArt 1 contemporary-style bath from Bette is designed to be fitted against a wall. It measures 1805 x 800 x 420mm and is made from durable and easy-to-clean glazed titanium-steel. Available in 7 glossy colours and 8 matt ones, it comes with a 30-year warranty and, made from natural materials, is fully recyclable.
10. Kaldewei's Centro Duo 1 bath designed by Sottsass Associati is suitable for corner installation and comes in left- and right-hand configurations. It measures 1700 x 750 x 485mm or 1800 x 750 x 485mm, and comes with an enamelled waste cover and overflow knob integrated in the bath design.
