Laufen presents new colour palette for ceramics at Milan Design Week

Laufen showcased the new 12-colour palette for ceramics developed in collaboration with Roberto Sironi Studio at Milan Design Week 2024 in an exhibition entitled Colour Archeology. The display sought to present an interdisciplinary journey between art, design, archaeology and the history of colour through ancient ceramic cultures in a time span from 3000BC to 1500AD. This is the brand's first research into colour and required 3 years of development – the result is a collection of 12 colours designed to maintain its value and expressive power over time.

The installation in Laufen's space in Milan was divided into 3 parts to visually represent the entire research. It started in the courtyard with 10 ceramic pieces created by Roberto Sironi in collaboration with ceramist Luca Mandaglio using diverse techniques and materials, with each piece evoking and referencing a historical production. The exhibition continued on the second floor with an artistic journey through the visuals created by Beda Achermann and his studio. The third part of the exhibition showcased a series of bathroom compositions made with some of Laufen's Saphirkeramik in the new colour palette.

The Colour Archaeology exhibition project is conceived as a travelling installation and after the Milan Design Week will be hosted in other Laufen spaces, in Vienna, Berlin, Madrid and Prague.
