Nailsea Electrical falls into administration after 40 years of trading

Appliances retailer Nailsea Electrical has announced it is to close its doors after having been in business since 1982. The company was founded in the North Somerset town of Nailsea by Peter Gilks, who then went on to open a second showroom on the Gloucester Road in Bristol, and later handed over the reins to his son Benjamin Gilks. In 2020 the business rebranded as NE Appliances, and opened a 15,000sq ft kitchen and appliance showroom in Hengrove Bristol.

The news was announced to customers on Facebook in a post that said: "It is with the deepest sadness to inform our customers that NE Appliances is going into administration. We have been working tirelessly to save the business but the economy has not been on our side. We will be in contact with everyone in the coming days. We thank you for your business to date. Our hearts could not be more broken."

In a second post the company added: "NE appliances are currently working with administrators to ensure a process is followed to work with customers who have lost money as a result of the company going into administration. This is not something that is being taken lightly and we fully understand the impact it's having on people. The frustrations are completely taken on board, but at this exact time our hands are tied.

"We will be in touch with individuals to work through each case where possible. We can only deeply apologise for the position we are in as a result and have a human outlook on this that has feeling for each and everyone [sic] of you. We hope to be in touch in the next 7-14 days."
