Charlotte Tilby, head of marketing at bathroom brand Woodstock, on the 5 key products and trends to work into your designs in the coming year.
At Woodstock, we are going to see a strong push towards features designed purely to enhance wellness in the space, a less is more aesthetic approach, as well as the specific fusion of classic and modern styles.
We will see more homeowners building on and enhancing the current trends, taking ideas like the spa bathroom even further. More than ever, consumers are expressing a need to create boundaries within different areas of the bathroom and allow themselves to have a safe space to switch off completely within their own home.
1. The art of vanity
Vanities have been on the rise for a few years now but in 2025, these rising stars are set to take centre stage with vanities and their mirror pairings becoming statement pieces. Accessories are no longer secondary; they play a pivotal role in the bathroom's overall aesthetic. We will see the popularity of softer circles, shapes, distinctive basins, and real brassware to add an organic texture and feel to the space.
Floating vanities are going to be the heart of this trend, providing a sleek touch and shift from the traditional vanity style whilst also bringing a sense of greater space, which will always be an underlying key factor in the decision-making process. Mirrors will also be a focal point this year, with the ability to elevate the atmosphere and tie the space together. Again, we predict to see the incorporation of rounded mirrors, backlit ambient LED lights, and touch screen controls, all combining to bring a softer, elevated feel to the space.
2. Natural wood grains
Your surroundings impact your mood, making it vital to make the correct choices. We’re already seeing huge demand for natural, or natural effect, materials and are expecting that these will gain even more popularity in 2025. Materials such as natural woods, like Oak and Walnut, stone and even organic elements like plants are sure to take pride of place in many bathroom designs.
We’ve observed that many homeowners are opting to update their bathrooms with the intention that their projects will last longer and natural materials will stand the test of times, are lower maintenance, and go hand in hand with statement features.
Earthy tones, soft finishes, and warm metallics are all hallmarks of this trend. With the benefits being endless, we will see many incorporate natural effect materials to reduce stress levels, all whilst achieving a timeless and aesthetic look.
3. Zonal designs
In 2025 we will see a strong push towards ‘breaking up the bathroom’, primarily through the distancing of uniform features such as glossy tiles and the introduction of calculated layouts and focal points within the space. The aim of this trend is to bring life, energy, and character to the bathroom. Some of the ways we see this being achieved is through unique touches such as wallpapers, distinct lighting, or shower niches.
Those with compact spaces can add features such as open shelving, and floating vanities to achieve this look whilst maintaining functionality. Additionally, subtle features will also contribute to the trend, details like noise friendly materials, panelled walls, or greenery will provide tranquillity and peace. This trend is proving that even compact spaces can go beyond the white box look and with a little bit of ingenuity, every space can be injected with personality and interest.
4. Rise of slim Shaker
The fusion of classical aesthetics with modern functionality has been long overdue and is poised to anchor the evolution of bolder trends in 2025. Classical styles, traditionally characterised by refined detailing and period features, are now being reimagined with contemporary innovations. This harmonious blend retains the timeless foundation of traditional forms while integrating modern features – such as introducing a slim frame edge to the classic Shaker door style – creating spaces that feel both nostalgic and contemporary.
Calypso Bathrooms' Dartmoor range exemplifies this trend, showcasing a slim Shaker style with minimalist design and classical charm. This range embraces the philosophy of ‘less is more,’ focusing on simplicity and allowing décor to take centre stage, resulting in a balanced, timeless appeal.
5. Creating wellness stations
Spa bathrooms have been a monumental trend throughout 2024, redefining the bathroom as more than just a functional space by weaving relaxation into its very fabric. Bathrooms are evolving further, with a growing emphasis on ‘wants’ rather than just the standard ‘needs.’ This transformation is set to continue, shaping the way we design and experience these spaces.
One notable development is the introduction of wellness stations—a designated area for organising skincare items and morning essentials, promoting easy access and efficiency. For instance, dedicated drawers or cabinets can be tailored to hold skincare essentials such as masks, serums, jade rollers, and moisturisers. Additionally, customisable light zones and smart, touchless features are expected to gain popularity, offering adaptable options to suit changing needs and moods throughout the day.
Earthy tones, textured surfaces, and natural materials like stone will remain popular, complementing wellness-focused features such as smart lighting temperature controls and oversized rain showers. These elements combine to create spaces that are both functional and indulgent.
Although this approach is often associated with luxury, it is increasingly becoming a standard in bathroom design. Responding to this growing demand, Calypso Bathrooms has introduced the new Petra Vanity Collection. This range enables homeowners to maximise their bathroom space with generous storage solutions while maintaining a stylish and unobtrusive aesthetic.
