In a bid to create optimum hygiene, Alape has introduced its new ProShield antibacterial coating to a selection of its glazed steel products. From now on, every white basin and every white washstand is set to benefit from the new steel surface enamelling that is said to kill all bacteria.
By mixing metallic silver into the surface of the components to be coated, the company says that bacterial and fungal growth is prevented by up to 99% over time. While incorporating the silver ions does not affect the enamelling process, so that the ions are neither visible nor noticeable, a non-porous and antibacterial surface is created.
"We have been working intensively on the subject of surface design in recent years. ProShield now adds a functional level to our surface expertise, which is also oriented towards the increased demand for antibacterial solutions," said Andrea Jürgens, head of creative management at Alape.
