Gloria Sanchez, designer and founder of Tailored Living Interiors, on the aesthetic that's set to dominate bedroom design over the coming year.

As society becomes more conscious of sustainability and ethical practices, the appeal of quiet luxury in the home will continue to increase. It’s a trend that aligns with the new generation’s mindset, which increasingly endorses the virtues of quality product design and long-term sustainability. It’s not just a fashion trend; it’s quickly becoming a lifestyle choice. Regarding the look and feel that quiet luxury transfers to a space, it is both timeless and contemporary. 10 years ago, the term 'quiet luxury' was brought into fashion, something which we used to call 'understated luxury' and even now, some of these earlier design schemes are still as relevant today as they were back then. By encouraging your client to invest in high-quality, timeless pieces, you’ll ensure their design choices remain relevant and able to endure changing trends for years to come. This approach helps create a more sustainable living environment and saves them time and money in the long run, as they won't need to keep updating and refreshing the décor of their home.

Quiet luxury is an aesthetic that captures the essence of subtle and toned-down elegance thanks to a preference for high quality, and beautifully understated designer pieces over the once favoured look of ostentatious opulence. Instead of screaming for attention, the trend for quiet luxury lends more towards key areas of interest that offer a more whispered blend of personal style, taste, confidence, and restraint; be it across the finishing touches or general colour palette.

In fact, we are seeing an increase in requests for a more luxury living experience with many requirements falling into the quiet luxury lifestyle where ‘less is more’. However, quiet luxury today has become a little braver and now, is going beyond neutral interior decoration. This has stemmed from consumers now taking influence from their time spent abroad at luxurious hotels, which we know pay closer attention to providing a welcoming homely atmosphere that is always signature in style!

To embrace the quiet luxury trend in your designs here are some helpful tips:

1. Use high-quality materials: Choose high-quality materials like marble, natural wood, silk, velvet, and leather to create a luxurious feel.

2. Embrace neutral tones: Neutral tones like beige, cream, white, and grey are popular in luxury interiors. They create a calm and sophisticated atmosphere. In fact, the neutral colour palette continues to elevate the home by introducing a sense of quiet luxury, which is rich, comforting, and elegant. Neutral grey is a great choice for creating a warm, inviting atmosphere and when used as the dominant shade, you’ll be able to pair it with lighter shades or jewel tones to lift the darker colour palette for a balanced look.

3. Add texture: As most rooms offer at least one wall to decorate, why not incorporate textured wallpaper to really add depth. Don’t be afraid to mix and match textures either, as long as the colours complement each other, you’ll find a very simple and effective way to create a peaceful and calming environment that still oozes luxury.

4. Use metallic accents: Metallic accents like gold, bronze, and silver can add instant glamour to a space. Incorporate them through accessories like mirrors, and lighting.

5. Layer lighting: Layer the lighting in your space to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Multiple light sources can add depth and interest. Remember the lighting control system is always an added bonus.

6. Keep it clean and clutter-free: Luxury interiors are clean, clutter-free, and well-maintained and so having an organised bedroom space is top priority providing a sense of calm and relaxation.

7. Choose the right furniture: Choose furniture that is elegant and timeless. Opt for classic designs with a modern twist to add a touch of sophistication or furniture that offers customisation, as this will allow you to create a unique style that fits your client's specific needs.

8. Don’t be afraid to add a pop of colour: You no longer have to opt for a painted feature wall or full colour drenched scheme anymore. Instead, you can include a carefully selected range of accessories and finishing touches that either complement or contrast with the rest of your home décor. The latest colour predicted to make an impression in 2026 is teal, which offers a new take on shades of green and blue that in different lights, can look both cool and warm. Helping to introduce a touch of jewel-toned luxury, teal also works really well with other shades like cream, brown, pink and even metallics like gold and antique brass for a truly opulent look and feel.
