Rob Pattern (head of product development), Jasmine Rowe (product design lead) and Paulina Filipiak (product category manater) from bathroom specialist hib. examine the key bathroom trends set to emerge over the coming year.

Q – What key bathroom design trends are you seeing emerging for the upcoming year?
A – Jasmine:
Bathroom design in 2026 is all about creating spaces that feel personal, calming, and connected to nature. We’re seeing a strong movement towards organic shapes and natural materials, with curved silhouettes in furniture and accessories softening the overall aesthetic. Consumers are gravitating towards spa-inspired environments, incorporating elements like ambient lighting, tactile finishes, and integrated storage to create a sense of sanctuary.

Technology is also playing a bigger role, but in a subtle way – clever mirrors and lighting, and discreet charging solutions are being integrated seamlessly into designs. The overarching trend is balance: combining functionality with emotional well-being, so bathrooms become restorative spaces rather than purely utilitarian.

Q – How have consumer preferences evolved in recent year, and how is that influencing product design?
A – Jasmine:
Consumers today expect their bathrooms to reflect their individuality. Personalisation is key - whether through modular furniture, interchangeable accessories, or customisable lighting schemes. There’s also a heightened focus on quality and longevity, with buyers scrutinising materials, finishes, and even the tactile experience of touchpoints like handles and taps.

Interestingly, AI-driven tools are influencing buying decisions, helping consumers visualise layouts and colour schemes before committing. This shift means our design process prioritises durability, adaptability, and eco-conscious choices, while ensuring every product feels premium and thoughtfully crafted.

Q: What is the role of brassware and accessories in bathroom design?
A – Paulina: Brassware and accessories are no longer just functional - they’re style-defining elements that can transform a bathroom’s character. A well-chosen tap or towel rail can elevate the entire space, acting as a focal point that ties together furniture, tiles, and lighting.

Metallic finishes like brushed brass or gunmetal add a sense of luxury and warmth, while clever placement of accessories enhances usability and flow. For example, a perfectly positioned robe hook or shelf can make daily routines smoother and more enjoyable. In short, these details bridge the gap between form and function, ensuring the bathroom feels cohesive, practical, and visually striking.

Q – Which colour palettes and finishes are gaining popularity?
A – Paulina: We’re seeing a continued love for warm neutrals - think soft whites, beige tones, and natural wood finishes that create a calming backdrop. These are complemented by muted greens and blues, which bring a sense of serenity and connection to nature.

On the metallic side, brushed brass, bronze, and gunmetal remain strong favourites, offering depth and sophistication without overpowering the space. Matte textures are trending too, as they lend a contemporary, understated elegance. The overall palette for 2026 is about harmonious contrasts: pairing earthy tones with refined metallics to achieve a timeless yet modern aesthetic.

Q – How is sustainability influencing material and design choices?
A – Rob: Consumers want products that last, so we invest in advanced finishes like PVD coatings on brassware, which resist corrosion and maintain their beauty for years. Rigorous testing, such as humidity and salt spray assessments, ensures durability in demanding bathroom environments.

We’re also exploring recyclable materials and responsible sourcing, reducing environmental impact without compromising quality.

Q – Are there any exciting new technologies being integrated into bathroom products that we should know about?
A – Rob:
Technology in bathrooms is becoming more intuitive and integrated. At hib., we’re introducing larger heated pads in mirrors and cabinets for improved demisting, strategically placed for maximum efficiency. Charging solutions are evolving too, with USB and USB-C ports built into cabinets and mirrors to support modern devices. These features are designed to blend seamlessly into the aesthetic, ensuring convenience without clutter.

Q – What's next for hib. in 2026 when it comes to new product launches?
A – Rob:
2026 will be an exciting year for hib., with new ranges that expand our core categories and give customers even more choice. We’re focusing on enhancing our best-selling products, adding premium features and finishes to deliver exceptional value and performance.

Expect innovations in lighting, storage, and brassware, all designed to combine cutting-edge technology with timeless design. Our goal is to ensure every product not only meets functional needs but also contributes to creating a bathroom that feels personal, stylish, and future-ready.
