BC Designs has revealed that it is working in partnership with Earthly in a bid to become carbon neutral by 2025, with the first stage underway to evaluate the company’s current carbon impact and identify initial areas for reduction. The evaluation will take into account the business as a whole, along with product manufacturing and transport.
The company will then invest in science-backed natural projects to off-set any remaining carbon footprint. Projects include stopping deforestation in Cambodia and Kenya, rainforest protection in Peru, along with reforestation and poverty alleviation in Madagascar.
Darren Allison, MD for BC Designs, pictured, said: “This is a significant milestone in the history of BC Designs. Never has it been more important to play an active role in the fight against climate change, and in partnering with Earthly, BC Designs will become a carbon neutral company within the next five years.
“Partnering with Earthly was a natural fit for us. Not only do they offer projects that make a difference to the health of the plant, but also facilitate jobs and incomes for some of the poorest countries in the world.
“Once we have reached our goal, which is now embedded within our business plan, our aim is to become a carbon positive company; taking more carbon out of the atmosphere than we produce.”
