10 beautiful basin designs that make the perfect bathroom centrepiece

The latest washbasin launches all have one thing in common – they're all so impactful and thoughtfully designed they deserve to be the centre of attention. We round up 10 of the best.

1. The Tendo washbasin by Alape is crafted from high-quality glazed stainless steel, and is designed to create a focal point in the bathroom space with its unique angled shape. It comes in 3 luxurious finishes – White, Black Matte and Dark Iron and is said to be durable, hygienic and easy to clean.

2. The Harper ceramic basin from hib. adds a touch of sophistication with its sleek, modern design and metallic edge detailing. Available in 4 luxurious finishes – Chrome, Black, Gold, and Bronze – the basin effortlessly complements a variety of bathroom styles, from contemporary to classic. Crafted from high-quality ceramic, the basin offers durability and easy maintenance, while the metallic edge adds a bold, polished contrast that enhances its overall aesthetic.

3. Each basin in Kast's Holm collection – Anno, Nema, and Mesa – can now be customised with terrazzo and plain concrete inserts giving designers greater freedom to create unique combinations. Designed with versatility in mind, the removable insert not only offers a distinctive visual feature but also cleverly conceals the basin waste for a seamless look. Customers can select from Kast’s signature 28-colour palette, allowing them to craft a basin that complements their space.

4. Victoria + Albert has extended its Lussari range, with 2 new washbasins – the Lussari 50 and larger Lussari 60. Both are D-shaped basins, designed to match the back-to-wall bath. Like the baths, they have slim walls and a gently curved rim, and both are installed against the wall for a watertight seal, with a slim ledge for mounting brassware or arranging bottles. The basins are available in gloss or matt finishes and the exterior can be painted in any of 200 RAL colours, to match any bathroom design.

5. Keuco has collaborated with designer Dominik Tesseraux of Tesseraux + Partner to launch the new EDITION 11 ART bathroom furniture concept, which combines delicate lines with a solid supportive feel. The washbasin is available in White, Sand (pictured), Manhattan, Blue Satin, and Smoke. There are single or double basins with widths of 800mm and 1200mm, and a choice of one or 2 drawers. The delicate edges of the thin 4mm enamel washbasin blend visually with the vanity unit, creating a uniform look.

6. VitrA's recycled ceramic washbasin is crafted entirely from discarded ceramics and other waste materials from the manufacturing process. The basins are available in a Matt Taupe finish in 5 different shapes: oval, square, round, TV and pebble. They have a slightly textured finish, increasing the visual and tactile impact of the recycled material.

7. The washbasin from the Balcoon bathroom range from Patricia Urquiola for Duravit is created in an earthy terracotta shade – Clay Terra Matt – for an authentic, artisanal look. The basins are designed to offer a central focal point in a room – placing round and oval shapes on a square plinth adds visual interest. The round basin measures 450mm, while the oval one measures 550mm.

8. The Octagon surface-mounted washbasin from Villeroy & Boch features a precisely crafted geometric inner surface that forms a perfect octagon. The matt shades of Stone White and Pure Black work well in both classic and contemporary interiors. The compact 42cm outer diameter also makes Octagon the perfect statement piece.

9. Inspired by the fluidity of water and designed by Yves Béhar for Laufen, the VOLTA washbasin features an organic, sculptural form that mimics the swirling motion of water. When the waste is closed, the water collects at the foot of the ramp to form a small 'pool'. This means that the entire basin does not have to be filled when washing or cleaning. The dry zones can then be used as storage areas.

10. The new Cabanes Basin by Frontline Bathrooms is designed for more compact spaces and features a smooth, curved form and tactile matt finish that are said to echo the growing preference for texture over gloss. Available in 400mm or 500mm sizes and offered in Matt White or Matt Black, each basin is crafted from solid surface stone resin to achieve a look and feel reminiscent of smooth, hand-cut limestone.
