Half the UK population is planning a full bathroom refurbishment – an increase of 5% up from 45% in January this year, says the BMA. The results of a BMA survey, which was conducted in July by Opinium from a nationally representative sample of over 2,000 people, have revealed the strength of intentions to upgrade bathrooms in the next 12 months, and questions about sustainability in the home show just one in 10 Brits believe their home is as sustainable as it could be.
The poll also indicated the immediacy of refurb plans has increased, with 16% saying they plan to do it in the next 12 months compared to just 13% saying the same in January. In fact, many bathroom tasks are viewed as more urgent now than they were at the start of the year.
Tom Reynolds, chief executive of the BMA, said: “Throughout the pandemic, and now as lockdown restrictions have eased, one of the challenges for bathroom manufacturers has been understanding demand.
“The market has been buoyant, and we’re seeing people continue to plan upgrades and improvements to their homes. This is resulting in a boom for many working in construction-related sectors.
“It’s encouraging to see the trend continue, and results like those shown in this poll, give us a clear reason to be upbeat.”
