On Friday 16th June 2023, a team from SmegUK will be taking on the Three Peaks Challenge with the aim of completing it within 24 hours. The company is raising funds for Special Effects – a charity that helps to transform the lives of physically disabled people globally through the use of innovative video game technology. Special Effects' mission is to maximise the quality of life of those that they support with innovative solutions that help to bring families and friends together.
The SmegUK team have been training hard to ensure they are fully prepared to complete the challenge within the time limit, and will be taking on the three highest peaks in Scotland, Wales and England – Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike – with a total driving distance of 462 miles and a walking distance of 37km.
Last year, SmegUK took part in the Race to the Stones where the team walked 100km over two days to raise donations for Action Medical. Alongside pub quizzes and monthly coffee mornings, SmegUK is also continuously donating to mental health charity Oxfordshire Minds, to support its ongoing work for those who need advice and support.
SmegUK product manager Matthew James said: “After completing Race to the Stones last year, I am looking forward to taking on our next challenge for another worthy cause with a great team. After learning more about Special Effects, I realised the social challenges that can come from a physical disability. This charity provides amazing opportunities to reconnect and take back control for themselves. I am looking forward to participating in this challenge and supporting the incredible charity.”
