IDS supports Recycling Lives charity with surfaces donations

IDS has organised the supply of flooring, worktops and splashbacks to help a charity that supports men experiencing homelessness create a brand-new kitchen.

Recycling Lives operates a residential facility in Preston, which provides a stable and supportive environment for homeless men to develop skills and confidence. The charity wanted to install a high-quality new kitchen that would form a hub for residents to cook and socialise, and which would make staying home more enjoyable.

After being approached to get involved, IDS was able to supply the charity with 15sq m of its Vali Malmo luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring to provide a durable flooring solution that would perform well in the 10-bedroom complex. In conjunction with its longstanding worktop partner, Bushboard, it was also able to provide Omega Natural Blocked Oak worktops and splashbacks for the communal kitchen area. Jewson Partnership Solutions provided the fixtures and fittings and Onward Homes installed the kitchen.

John Bagshaw, MD of IDS, said: “The work that Recycling Lives undertakes to support men experiencing homelessness in Preston is extremely valuable. We are delighted to have been able to contribute to the completion of the new residential kitchen by donating Malmo LVT flooring and organising the supply of Bushboard worktops and splashbacks. Residents will be able to cook and socialise in a space that is not only fit-for-purpose, but which they can enjoy spending time in.”

Nick Jones, UK sales leader at Wilsonart UK, says: “Community support is very important to us, and we’re proud to have contributed Bushboard surfaces to the new Recycling Lives kitchen. Together, we’ve created a well-made space that feels good and looks great, ensuring its functionality and enjoyment by anyone who needs it for years to come.”

Alasdair Jackson, chief executive of Recycling Lives Charity, said: “While we’re all doing our bit by staying home this donation makes home a nicer place to be for our residents. It provides a hub for our men to cook, socialise and support one another as they work towards independence. We’re very grateful for this very practical and kind donation.”
