A new feature zone has been announced for InstallerSHOW 2024 with a focus on innovation and best practice in the tile and worktop markets. The Surface Area attraction will combine expert demonstrations with a showcase of the manufacturing technologies driving product development in the sector.
Supported by organisations such as TTA and BiKBBI, and leading international brands such as Pamesa, Grespania, Dune, Natucer, Nanda Tiles, Cristacer, and VitrA, the goal of Surface Area is to deliver a comprehensive insight into the cutting-edge techniques that are being employed to produce creative and breathtaking designs – spanning everything from the use of digital dust deposition in 20mm exterior tiling to sinking inks to create embossed-in-register designs on marble-effect worktops to the harnessing of continuous pressing and rectification to create ceramic wallpaper and modular tiling collections.
On the decorative front, world-class tiling brands will be highlighting the use of digital glue and granilla to print texture. There will also be the opportunity to see how today’s polishing techniques have achieved new surface options, as well as a UK first – the chance to see the very latest in digital glazing, a brand new technology that represents a step change in surface design.
Rounding out this curated collection of sector-leading contemporary ceramics will be intricate arrays of glazed 3D pieces that can form continuous tiled surfaces around vanity units and other furniture; the dynamic alchemy of reactive glazes; and the beauty and glamour of metallic tiles coated using PVD (physical vapour deposition).
To enhance the visitor experience, a hand-picked selection of tile experts – including Diary of a Tile Addict’s Joe Simpson – will be on hand throughout the show to talk through the technologies on display, with one-click downloadable information available on demand.
The Surface Area attraction will be located on stand 4C18 at InstallerSHOW 2024 and forms part of the wider Installer Kitchens & Bathrooms event. InstallerSHOW 2024 is taking place at the NEC, Birmingham from 25th - 27th June.
