Bathroom manufacturer Ideal Standard hosted a discussion with TV presenter and architect George Clarke at its London Design & Specification Centre, focusing on bathroom design and specification. The exclusive event for media on 16th October gave attendees the opportunity to speak with George directly around key focuses in interior design and his recent home renovation.
The discussions throughout the day emphasised the importance of sustainability, exploring how bathroom products can go beyond just reducing water flow and be inherently more sustainable by being designed to stand the test of time both physically and aesthetically. They also examined how designers can incorporate these key themes into new projects and renovations.
Sustainability has always been central to George Clarke’s ethos with it being a driving factor in his work and specification choices. The ability to specify high-quality products that evolve proven design concepts rather than trend-led items that need replacing frequently reduces the carbon footprint of raw material usage, manufacturing emissions and transport. It’s this quality and longevity that is a key theme of Ideal Standard’s Atelier Collection.
With this shared passion for long-lasting, quality products, the Amazing Spaces presenter specified a number of Ideal Standard’s products for his own recent home renovation, including the minimalist Conca furniture, Linda X basin and bath.
Attendees were also provided with the chance to get hands-on with the latest ranges on display at Ideal Standard’s showroom, including the most recent edition to the design-led Atelier Collections – the Italian lifestyle inspired La Dolce Vita range – created by internationally renowned designer, Roberto Palomba.
