Roman COO John Wright retires after 25 years with the business

Newton Aycliffe-based shower enclosure designer and manufacturer Roman is marking a significant milestone this week as it bids a fond farewell to its chief operations officer, John Wright, who is retiring after 25 years with the business.

John’s career with Roman began at a pivotal moment in the company’s history, joining the team as the new factory opened its doors. Over the following quarter-century, he played a central role in shaping Roman’s operational excellence and driving its continued growth. The company says his leadership was instrumental in introducing flowline production to the showering industry – an innovation that helped set new standards for efficiency, consistency, and product quality across the sector.

Beyond his operational achievements, John is known for his passion for aviation. A keen pilot, his leaving gift from Roman is the unforgettable experience of flying in a classic Tiger Moth aircraft. John also met his wife, Julie, at the business and she continues to be a valued member of Roman’s purchasing team.

John will be succeeded by Alex Crawley, who steps into the role of operations director. Alex has worked closely with John for many years, and his appointment ensures a shared vision for the next phase of Roman’s operational development.

Roman extended its heartfelt thanks to John for his remarkable service and dedication, and wished him every happiness in his retirement.
