Whirlpool UK Appliances hosted an in-house coffee morning on 29th September, raising over £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The occasion was held as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, Macmillan Cancer Support’s largest annual fundraising event. The coffee morning was hosted at the World of Whirlpool centre, located at the company’s UK head office in Peterborough. Colleagues brought in their own home-baked treats to be sold at the event and were invited to stop by to enjoy cake and refreshments.
Macmillan Cancer Support provides specialist health care, information and advice to people living with cancer, and offers emotional and financial support, while funding research and campaigning for better care for those affected by the disease. Macmillan Cancer Support is 98% funded by voluntary donations, therefore fundraising activities, such as coffee mornings, are essential to help the charity to deliver vital cancer support.
As part of Whirlpool UK’s commitment to improving life at home, the company regularly provides support to charities, both locally and on a national scale. In addition to establishing several charity partnerships, Whirlpool UK is dedicated to supporting the communities in which its colleagues live and work.
Ian Moverley, communications director for Whirlpool UK, said: “We are delighted that our coffee morning raised over £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Our colleagues were extremely generous with their time and donations, and we would like to say a huge thank you to each and every one of them for taking part in the event. Cancer is a cause that is close to many of our hearts, and the tireless work undertaken by Macmillan Cancer Support is vital for those living with the disease. Our coffee morning provided an excellent opportunity for our colleagues to get together over cake and refreshments, while helping to raise funds for a truly worthy cause.”
