Häfele starts restoring IT systems after being hit by cyber attack

The Häfele Group has partially restored its website and IT systems after being hit by a ransomware attack on 2nd February 2023. Following the attack by an external source, the Group pre-emptively shut down its system worldwide, including in the UK. The manufacturer and distributor, who has always invested heavily in IT security and infrastructure, immediately began to restore its systems and build a completely new IT security architecture using the best technology in the market. As a result, Häfele.co.uk has now restored in part, with customers able to browse for products, services and content online.

While Häfele UK continues work on the full functionality of its website, including online ordering and My Häfele functionality, the company has put extra resource into its Customer Support and Warehousing teams to handle customer orders more efficiently. In doing so, HäfeleUK is now operating at 2–3-day lead times, with the aim of restoring its usual 24-hour turnaround time as quickly as possible.

Lee Dicey, chief commercial officer at Häfele, said: “We appreciate this has been a frustrating time for our customers and colleagues, and we want to thank them for their understanding and patience while we’ve worked hard to rebuild our IT systems and complete a full forensic investigation. We are pleased to report that even though this attack was a significant event, we are well on our way to getting all our services fully back up and running.

“We will be providing ongoing updates directly to customers, but in the meantime, our UK-based Customer Support team is on hand on 0800 171 2909 or info@hafele.co.uk to take orders and help with any queries.”
