InSinkErator supports Food Waste Action week

InSinkErator has supported Food Waste Action Week, which ran from 6th to 13th March 2023.

Now in its third year, Food Waste Action Week, which was devised by Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP), aims to reduce the effect food waste has on the environment. The 2023 theme, ’Win. Don’t Bin’, hoped to encourage the use of leftovers in the home to help reduce the amount of food waste generated.

As part of its awareness activities, InSinkErator teamed up with Bettina Campolucci Bordi, a chef that specialises in sustainable cooking to create a Beans & Greens Fridge Raid recipe video, which it shared on Instagram and TikTok. As well as highlighting how to make the most of leftover vegetables, the video also demonstrated how to dispose of inedible food waste safely and hygienically using an InSinkErator food waste disposer. The company also hosted giveaways, providing consumers with a chance to win a food waste disposer.

Anne Kaarlela, marketing communications and customer service manager, Europe, InSinkErator, said: “We’re delighted to have collaborated with Bettina again this year to create a recipe for Food Waste Action Week. We wholeheartedly support the objectives of the initiative, and with an IBM study highlighting that over half the respondents stated environmental sustainability is more important to them than it was a year ago, we hope that the awareness and education Food Waste Action Week provides has a positive impact on the future of our planet. At InSinkErator we are committed to providing lifestyle enhancing solutions, which promote hygiene in the kitchen, are convenient to use and are safe within the home.”
