Egger UK welcomes 29 apprentices into the business

Wood-based panel manufacturer Egger UK has welcomed 29 local apprentices to its 800 strong team.

Mechanical, Electrical, Production, Business Administration, Sales, Purchasing, Health and Safety, and Logistics apprentices have joined departments across the Hexham, Barony and Timberpak sites.

To mark the start of the 2023 apprenticeship programme, Egger UK hosted an induction week filled with activities, tours and talks. The new recruits saw the production of chipboard at Egger Barony, took part in an activity day at Loch Doon, Ayr, had a tour of Egger Hexham to see the production of Eurodekor Faced Chipboard, visited a Timberpak recycling site, and spent an afternoon with Egger Forestry.

Keith Robson, apprentice training manager at Egger UK, said: “We are delighted to welcome our new apprentices to the team. The induction week provides an exceptional opportunity for our apprentices to build connections with one another and develop a support network, as they embark on their professional journey with us.”

Egger Hexham has recruited Alex Anson, Jack Armstrong, Amy Bell, Robert Conley, Ryan Crellin, James Dodds, Faith Gilhome, Daniel Kozlowski, Jack Kozlowski, Judah Lee, Grace Muncer, Jamie Potts, Finlay Reid, Stefan Robinson, Eleanor Sowerby, Jack Stirk and Adam Whitfield.

Egger Barony has recruited Jay Callandar, Hannah Campbell, Thomas Gillespie, Naomi Hamilton, Jamie Jackson, Daniel McAllister, Karrie Mcharg and Logan Mitchell.

Timberpak Ltd has recruited Kai Busfield, Dillon Campbell, Adam Faulds and Thomas McPhee.

Over 15% of Egger UK’s current workforce joined as an apprentice, highlighting the company’s ongoing commitment towards the development of its employees. Its apprentice programme has been running for over 20 years, with a strong focus on the development and training of people from areas local to its sites.

Recruitment for the 2024 EGGER apprenticeship programme will start in Autumn 2023.
