ASA upholds Everhot Cookers' complaint against Aga

Everhot Cookers has revealed that the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has upheld its complaint against Aga, after the competing heat storage manufacturer made claims about the energy efficiency of its eR7 cooker, claiming to have the lowest running costs of any heat storage range cooker, when in fact it can cost up to twice as much to run as an Everhot cooker.

Everhot Cookers is based at Coaley Mill in the Cotswolds where the first Everhot was invented in 1979 by Ossie Goring. Ossie's son, Guy Goring, continues to run the business from its 13th century home.

Guy Goring said: “We are delighted that the ASA has upheld our complaint against Aga’s energy efficiency claims. Everhot Cookers are the most energy efficient heat storage range cookers on the market today. A fact we have always stuck by because of its importance to us as a British built range cooker manufacturer.

"Everhot is transparent with the energy efficiency of its cookers, consistently publishing running costs with all hot plates and ovens on full during the day and dropping into our automatic ECO settings overnight. With electricity costs in the forefront of everyone's minds, we know how important it is for customers to be able to understand and interpret running costs and easily compare cooker brands so they can make the right decision for them. It does make you wonder how many people bought an Aga eR7 based on claims of it having the lowest running costs of any heat storage range cooker.

“Each Everhot cooker is hand built in our carbon negative factory here in the Cotswolds. As a family run business, we remain committed to the environment. Our desire to conserve energy has been at the heart of our business philosophy ever since it inspired the invention of the first ever Everhot over 40 years ago. Our unique trickle feed design optimises the use of renewable power sources and enables our cookers to be simply plugged into 13amp sockets. We continually strive to ensure our heat storage range cookers are as energy efficient as possible for our owners. Sustainability remains deeply embedded in our DNA and we never stop innovating to improve our cookers’ efficiency.”
