Duravit has marked the 30th anniversary of its iconic Starck Barrel, created by world famous designer Philippe Starck, with the launch of a new version that offers a more modern aesthetic.
The German bathroom manufacturer says the ‘innovative re-interpretation’ of the Starck Barrel uses c-bonded technology to produce a more modern look, without losing any of the key characteristics of the original.
The ceramic wash bowls are newly available in matt and gloss black, alongside white and white satin and feature HygieneGlaze Plus, Duravit’s dirt- and bacteria-resistant ceramic glaze. Furniture handles come in five finishes of Chrome, Diamond Black, Brushed Stainless Steel, Brushed Bronze and Polished Gold, which can be co-ordinated with the taps. There are eight furniture lacquers including High-Gloss White, White Satin Matt and Night Blue Satin Matt.
Philippe Starck said: “The Starck Barrel was already a fitting and contemporary product thirty years ago, and remains so today because it’s not about trends, but rather humanity.”
