10 stunning painted kitchen designs that exude timeless elegance

There's nothing quite like a painted kitchen when it comes to achieving a classic aesthetic, and one that can be tailored to a client's specific colour preference – we round up 10 inspirational designs.

1. The Farnham kitchen by Krantz Designs features striking black Shaker-style cabinetry, providing a dark and moody aesthetic while retaining a timeless quality befitting the age of the property. A quartz worktop with inlaid brass accents adds a touch of glamour. This contrasts against the dark wood of the raised breakfast bar, which houses a concealed champagne sink. Inside the kitchen cabinetry, thoughtful features – including a larder cupboard, spice drawer, and under-sink storage area – optimise cupboard space.

2. This Signature Bespoke painted Shaker kitchen in a listed Georgian farmhouse was designed by Searle & Taylor Kitchens in Winchester. It features tall and wall-mounted cabinetry handpainted in Slaked Lime with a 2.5-metre by 1.2-metre kitchen island and tall dressers handpainted in French Grey, all by Little Greene. Chrome ball knobs and cup pull handles are by Armac Martin to complement the Perrin & Rowe Parthian tap in chrome alongside a chrome Quooker Flex 3-in-1 Boiling Water tap, both above a Kohler Irontone 1.5 bowl ceramic sink.

3. This bespoke kitchen design by Grid Thirteen features the company's ‘Darling Maeve’ bespoke, handmade furniture, including the classic Harewood door range. The clients chose a two-tone scheme painted in Grid Thirteen's signature paint colours ‘Old Lace’ & ‘Inky Abyss’, that match elegantly with the Atlas Plan sintered stone worktops and splashback.

4. Bakehouse Green was the colour choice here for DeVOL Kitchens' painted Classic English furniture and plenty of storage was the goal. The clients opted for no open shelves or glass, but to keep everything behind doors and drawers while still close to hand so the space remains clutter free. A DeVOL Dairy Table takes centre stage, topped with cool Carrara marble that extends out on one side, allowing room for a few bar stools to be pulled up.

5. This bespoke in-frame Shaker-style kitchen by Sheraton Interiors features a commanding central island painted in Farrow & Ball's Hague Blue, while the wall cabinetry is painted in Strong White. The colour scheme was inspired by the striking Viscount white granite worktops and splashback, which the client loved due to the intricate pattern along with slight blue hues.

6. This handmade bespoke kitchen was designed by Simon Taylor Furniture for clients that live in an early 20th-Century property. It features a run of overhead and undercounter cabinetry with a U-shaped island all painted in Stiffkey Blue by Farrow & Ball. A 30mm-thick quartz worktop in Tuscany colourway is featured throughout the kitchen, which includes a white Everhot range cooker. Ball knob and cup pull handles are all by Crofts & Assinder.

7. This family home in Surrey showcases The Main Company’s exemplary level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. A seamless blend of classic elements with contemporary design, the bespoke Shaker-style kitchen features sage cabinets painted in Farrow & Ball Studio Green 93 and a freestanding island in a contrasting dark blue. Equipped with seating space, storage, an undermounted trough sink and a standard sink, the island is both a social and practical centrepiece.

8. Painted in the striking tone of 'Inky Sky', this modern blue kitchen from Tom Howley's Summerville range marries elegance and practicality, while the burnished brass handles provide the perfect counterpoint to the deep blue-grey hue. The dusted oak veneer introduces a textural contrast, juxtaposed with the sleek, marbled worktops – an embodiment of subtle refinement. Social seating around the well-proportioned island is perfect for hosting, while a bi-fold breakfast bar and bespoke drinks bar ensure it's a space for all occasions.

9. It’s all about the contrasts in this room designed by DeVOL Kitchens – soft and feminine juxtaposed with traditional and hardworking. The company's Princelet Pink paint colour features on the Shaker cupboards, while dark wood features on the purpose-built glazed pantry. Arabescato marble on the dark wood Dairy Table and Cream Subway Tiles complete the elegant space.

10. This Signature Bespoke painted Shaker kitchen was designed by Searle & Taylor Kitchens features floor-to-ceiling breakfront cabinetry, wall-mounted dresser cabinets with open shelving and a 4.7-metre x 1.4-metre island with tongue and grooved end panels all handpainted in Inkwell by Colourtrend Paints. The contrasting 20mm thick quartz worktop is in Ariel by Silestone. An Adam-style canopy and with beautiful oak interiors and a large solid oak shelf along with vegetable wicker basket drawers provide natural accents.
