How Humphrey Munson's glamorous design created the perfect home to entertain in
Humphrey Munson's Fryerning project is a striking, large-scale renovation situated in the heart of the Essex countryside – we learn how the team created a space that feels both timeless and distinctly modern.
This design-forward home is a clever mix of bold glamour and exceptional craftsmanship, and is the result of a collaboration between Essex-based multidisciplinary design, manufacturing and installation practice Humphrey Munson and London interior designers Edwards McCoy.

"The Fryerning Project is a perfect example of how premium craftsmanship and a confident design vision can transform a home," said Peter Humphrey, founder & design director at Humphrey Munson. "Working closely with Sally McCoy and the Edwards McCoy team allowed us to push the aesthetic in a way that is really atmospheric and incredibly liveable. This project celebrates the richness of natural materials and the exceptional HM detailing, which is evident across every space."

Calacatta Viola marble takes centre stage featuring on the island, splashback and shelf, while Nickleby cabinetry is finished in Humphrey Munson's bespoke colour Mr Banks – a dark, rich and luxurious tone. Hardware is a mix of bespoke Pip knobs and Walpole handles in mid antique waxed brass, both exclusive to Humphrey Munson.

The kitchen features top-of-the-range Gaggenau appliances including a 400 Series pyrolytic oven, 400 series combi-steam oven, 200 series gas hob, a Vario 400 series integrated refrigerator and a Vario 400 series integrated freezer with ice maker. Also making an appearance is a Waterworks Easton classic gooseneck mixer tap with rinse and the brass Quooker Classic Nordic Round PRO3, as well as a large Shaws undermount Bradshaw sink.

The showstopper walk-in pantry is also finished in HM Mr Banks with the addition of antique-effect mirror splashbacks and Caesarstone Empira Black quartz worktops.

As well as open shelving, generous drawers, space for a breakfast station and a custom integrated dog bed, the pantry features a Fisher & Paykel CoolDrawer and Gaggenau 200 Series Combi-Microwave.

Some plush integrated seating in the corner of the kitchen offers an elegant area for relaxed dining. The project's pièce de résistance, however, is the sensational bar area featuring bespoke fluted cabinetry in Portobello Oak with integrated lighting and Calacatta Viola worktops with a triple bullnose edge. Appliances include an integrated glass washer and Gaggenau built-under wine storage, while an antique effect mirror splashback sits behind the bar continuing to the ceiling behind the upper metal shelving. The ultimate in glamorous entertaining at home.
