Haier highlights ‘phenomenal' growth at annual 1 Vision Conference

Appliance giant Haier has used its annual 1 Vision Conference to outline its ‘phenomenal’ growth and announce a new initiative with Octopus Energy.

The theme for this year’s conference, which was held at Liverpool’s Rum Warehouse on 4th July, was ‘Dream, believe, achieve’. Opening the event, David Meyerowitz, Haier Europe’s CEO for the UK and Ireland, said: “Haier is the enabler of dreams. We are the world’s favourite domestic appliance manufacturer.” He described the company’s growth as ‘phenomenal’ and added that “we dream big with confidence”.

According to Meyerowitz, the company is now the number one in washing machines and washer dryers with fast growth occurring in the cooling market. “By 2025, 100% of our sales will be connected appliances,” he said. “They will focus on the ultimate user experience.”

Yannick Fierling, CEO of Haier Europe, said the company now has a market share of 17% worldwide with a worldwide turnover of €32 billion. “Every one in five fridges, wine coolers, washers, dryers are a Haier product. And despite the challenges we have faced recently with Covid and supply chain issues, we have doubled our turnover making us the fastest-growing smart home appliance company,” Fierling said.

Also outlined was Haier Europe’s new initiative with Octopus Energy, which offers consumers the lowest cost per wash cycle at just 5p. Leon Doyle, head of IoT ecosystems at Haier Europe, explained that data driven insights showed existing consumers were reducing temperatures and shortening their laundry cycles in response to the cost-of-living crisis. He said: “Sadly, more consumers are extending days between washing, lowering their temperature and shortening their cycle all in the quest of reigning in their electricity bill.”

In addition, Dave Matthews, ME leader in small domestic appliances announced that Haier will enter the kitchen small appliances market later this year with a range of new products that it believes will transform the market.

Finally, David Meyerowitz paid tribute to all those who attended the conference. “All of you are the driver of our future. We thank you for your support. We want to be the first customer of choice for the smart home, and we are well on our way to achieving this goal,” he said.
