Trade kitchen manufacturer Howdens has unveiled its revamped Portsmouth depot with a re-opening event attended by football legend Chris Kamara MBE.

One of Howdens’ founding depots in 1995, the Portsmouth site has been designed to offer tadespeople a more professional and welcoming environment. The company has also increased its stock holding and the number of kitchen displays.

Howdens says it is using the 12 kitchen sets to showcase its latest designs, including examples of its new Halesworth and Bridgmere kitchen ranges and customisable Paint to Order offering.

For the first time, the depot will have three design rooms, where tradespeople can work with homeowners and Howdens' team of expert designers to bring their projects to life.

Kamara, who opened the depot with a plaque unveiling, is also working with Howdens on its Game Changer Programme, where it is supplying new kitchens to hundreds of grassroots football clubs across the country.

The first of the Game Changer Kitchens was also unveiled by Kamara while he was in Portsmouth at Hawks Community Youth Football Club.

Mark Churchill, head of trade property at Howdens, said: “Having football legend Chris Kamara officially open our new revamped Portsmouth depot is fantastic, and I know that staff and customers really enjoyed the day.

“We are continually looking at ways to improve our depots for our trade customers and homeowners to provide a better experience. It is important that tradespeople can visualise what their kitchens could look like, as well as experience the many different features we offer with expert help on hand. Our new depot format delivers on this, as well as providing faster delivery on designs and stock.”

Howdens plans to revamp more than 90 depots to its new look and format by the end of 2023.
