The Wood Works under new ownership following 'tough' few months

Family-run bespoke kitchen business The Wood Works is under new ownership having been placed in administration following a challenging period over the winter months. The assets of the company, which has showrooms in London, Hertfordshire and Ascot, have been purchased with immediate effect by The Wood Works of London Limited. The shareholders and directors of the new business are: KBB consultant Erin Woodger; owner of Hunt Bespoke Kitchens & Interiors Alex Forster; and a third individual who is yet to be announced.

A spokeperson for the company said: "The Wood Works has been incredibly successful during its history and has a strong order book of both current and future work, from their 3 showrooms. Cash, however, more recently, became constrained, and a few tough months with project timelines shifting over the winter period meant they could no longer meet their obligations. As such, unfortunately, the directors of The Wood Works had placed the company into administration."

They added: "In exploring alternative options, a group of 3 individuals, all with extensive knowledge of the kitchen business, and known to The Wood Works, reached a deal to buy the assets and keep all staff."

In a statement, the company said that business is set to resume this week, and the new directors are committed to honouring the existing order book of works and will continue to manufacture current projects, seeing them through to completion. Richard McGarry, previously the sales director, will be taking over as managing director. It added that the administrator will be contacting all suppliers in due course.

The statement concluded: "Under this new ownership, The Wood Works will continue from strength to strength, and will continue the high standards set by the previous owners... Erin has worked closely with The Wood Works as a consultant since mid-2023 and has exciting plans to continue to maintain, grow and build the company, in line with the vision and high standards that The Wood Works has always been known for."
