Over 180 exhibitors are gearing up to showcase their latest launches at the annual Surface Design Show, which is set to return to London’s Business Design Centre today.
Dedicated to surface material innovation, the exhibition which runs from 4th – 6th February, is billed as the event of choice for architects and designers to see, source and specify the latest and most inspiring internal and external surface materials.
Organisers say they are expecting thousands of architects and designers to attend the event, where over 50 speakers will provide key insights into the future of materials within the built environment.
Other highlights are set to include a porcelain light installation created by Andra Munro, a multi-award-winning lighting designer based in the UK. The installation will feature approximately 1,500 porcelain pieces, each individually and intricately crafted by hand. When illuminated, the porcelain radiates a warm, inviting glow, casting mesmerising patterns of light and shadow that shift and evolve with the viewer’s perspective.
Making its debut at the event will be the Innovation Gallery, which is designed to champion up-and-coming material innovators. Organisers say it will be the place to discover groundbreaking materials and concepts emphasising new companies at the forefront of material innovation where both The Royal College of Art and the Green Grads will be present.
The Surface Spotlight will once again be presenting a selection of carefully selected surfaces, finishes and materials that embrace the 2025 show theme of ‘Creative Conscience’, which represents a commitment to sustainable, ethical, and innovative design.
Nickie West, director of the Surface Design Show, said: “The intersection of design trends, technological advancements and sustainability will be celebrated in our 2025 edition. The theme focuses on the future of materials for the built environment driven by developments in technology, a heightened focus on sustainability, and a deeper understanding of human needs.”
