Italian luxury appliance manufacturer Smeg brought Italy to London in January by opening its doors to showcase its built-in appliances portfolio in 'Casa Smeg'. While the brand is best known for its iconic freestanding FAB refrigeration range, it also offers an exciting collection of elegant built-in appliances complete with cutting-edge technology, which were showcased for 2 days only in a roomset designed by interior stylist Kate Watson Smyth at Carousel in London's Fitzrovia.
Chef and author Clodagh McKenna (pictured at the event) was on hand to demonstrate the different functions of Smeg's award-winning Omnichef oven technology. Combining traditional, microwave, and steam cooking in one appliance, the Omnichef range is part of Smeg’s Made In Italy project and is designed for healthy, simple, and outstanding cooking at home. From the smart cooking function that offers 150 automatic recipes, to the multi-tip probe for professionally controlling the internal temperature of food, Omnichef is intended to enable users to achieve professional results with ease. Also on display were products from Smeg's sink and tap collection, as well as the brand's matte black induction hob with downdraft extraction.
The guest list included members of the consumer and trade press, along with social media influencers. Recently appointed MD Daniel Hadley, who previously worked at Dyson and took over the reins from Mike Giddings in April last year, was also in attendance. Following the event, the pop-up kitchen in Casa Smeg was dismantled to be repurposed at the company's UK HQ in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
