InSinkErator supports #BeatPlasticPollution movement for World Environment Day
Food waste disposer and instant hot water tap brand InSinkErator has announced it is supporting World Environment Day this year by raising awareness around plastic pollution and ways to help tackle the issue. Joining this year’s #BeatPlasticPollution movement, the brand is undertaking activities including hosting an Instagram giveaway for its most advanced 4N1 Touch tap and sharing hints and tips on how to make positive lifestyle changes.
In 2025, the world is expected to consume 516 million tonnes of plastics and by 2060, annual global plastic consumption is forecast to reach over 1.2 billion tonnes. World Environment Day has been held annually on the 5th of June since 1973 and sees participation from over 143 countries annually. The UK water dispenser market is the fastest-growing regional market in Europe – key drivers of growth include increasing consumer focus on hydration, convenience, and eco-friendly appliances, as well as heightened awareness of water quality and microplastic pollution. A primary benefit of having instant filtered water readily available through appliances such as taps is the fact that there is less need to purchase bottled water, meaning less plastic wastage.
InSinkErator is sharing social media advice to consumers as well as running an Instagram giveaway for its 4N1 Touch tap in a new brushed copper finish with free installation as part of World Environment Day.
Anne Kaarlela, marketing communications & customer service manager, Europe, InSinkErator, said: “In the UK, like the rest of the world, we are still looking to tackle the single-use plastic problem, however reusable bottles are such an easy way to make a difference. We’re pleased to be able to offer a product which can give customers refreshing filtered cold water for their bottles, meaning they no longer need to opt for throwaway plastic options.
“This year we are continuing to promote the #BeatPlasticPollution initiative and offer advice to both customers and staff whilst running a competition to give away our latest 4N1 Touch tap. Simple steps can make a difference, no matter how small, and it’s a problem we must all face together. We see it as an important part of what we do as a business – helping address issues such as food wastage and cutting down on plastic, to create a better future. Our products allow customers to take positive steps towards tackling bigger problems and this is something we can be proud of.”
